Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) in Nebraska

If you want to get your massage therapy license in Nebraska, you should know requirements are higher than in other parts of the country.

You will also have to be 19 years old and have a high school diploma.

Schooling Criteria

You need 1,000 hours of education, and 100 hours in each following subjects:

  • Anatomy
  • Physiology
  • Hygiene and Practical demonstration
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Pathology
  • Massage
  • Health service management

The program you attend must be 9 months long, and and rest of the hours should be focused on clinical practice.

Testing Criteria

In order to get licensed, you need the MBLEx exam for which you will find an application on the Board’s site.

The applications take 5 days to process and you can take the test within 3 months.

The exam can be taken online, but you need to send in your results and print the form.

You need a 75% passing score.

Reciprocity Certification

If you are licensed in another state, you can get a reciprocity license if you meet the 1,000 hours criteria by practice and schooling together.

You can also get to the 1,000-hour requirement at a 100-hour annual rate by either attending a program or work.

The training must be done in schools approved by the FSMTB or the NCBTMB.

One semester usually counts as 15 hours.

How to Apply

You have to submit proof you either match of criteria, or all criteria except for national exam.

If you haven’t taken the national exam, you can get a temporary permit to work.

The school you trained at must send in transcripts of your course.

You must also send in your health or environmental license if you have any, in order to get a credential certification.

If you have a criminal record, you will need to detail it before being received for the exam and send it court records.

The certification entity must also submit copies of evaluations and treatments if these were performed,

The license cost varies, and the temporary certification requires a $25 fee.
