The diploma program consists of 6 modules, which can be taken in any order.
Each module consists of both clinical and administrative training.
Classes within the modules include medical office procedures, medical terminology, fundamentals of assisting, urinalysis, medication administration, word processing for the medical office, and financial recordkeeping.
Upon graduation, students will be prepared to perform both clinical and administrative tasks.

2 Sullivan University
About the School
Sullivan University’s medical assistant program is ranked the top medical assistant program in Kentucky by Medial Assistance Advice.
The university is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
The course has a 100% certification exam pass rate for 2020.
They offer two programs.
The first is a diploma program, which can be completed in 12 months.
They also offer an associate of science degree in Medical Assisting, which takes 18 months to complete.
Most of the coursework is completed online.
Students will need to go to the campus for a one-week “bootcamp” before completing the program.
This allows them to get hands-on experience, before beginning a clinical rotation.

About the School
The Medical Institute of Kentucky specializes in providing training for students who want to become allied health professionals.
Programs include pharmacy technician, physical therapy assistant, and medical assistant programs.
They offer flexibility, allowing students to get hands-on instruction around their schedule.

Students can also choose an administrative medical assistant program that includes EHR (electronic health records) or B & C (billing and coding).
The clinical MA program takes 16 weeks to complete.
The administrative MA program takes 18 weeks.
The administrative MA program with EHR or B&C takes 24 weeks to complete.
Students who complete the clinical program are eligible to take the certification exam for Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC).
Students who complete the administrative program can take the certification exam for the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA), or the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA).

The course consists of 70% hands-on learning and training which occurs in the clinical labs.

5 KY Healthcare Training

KY Healthcare Training specializes in training students for an allied health career.
Programs include medical assistant, registered nurse aide, phlebotomy, and EKG.
KY Healthcare Training is licensed by the Kentucky Commission on Proprietary Education, and they are certified by ASHI Health and Safety Instructors.
They offer flexible class schedules. In fact, many students are employed while attending school.
The medical assistant program consists of 3 components.
Students will complete phlebotomy, EKG, and medical assistant components.
The course takes a total of 9 weeks.
Phlebotomy requires a total of 100 hours, including 2 weeks of in-person classes, and 40 externship hours.
EKG requires 65 hours, and includes 3 weeks of hybrid classes, with 4 in person class days.
The medical assistant portion is a total of 135 hours.
During the medical assistant portion, students will have 4 weeks of online classes, and 2 days of in-person skills training.
They will also complete a 40 hour externship.
