The training programs for home health aides are very short.

These typically last for a few weeks, after which you can take the exam.

Some employers choose to pay for your training course if you can’t afford it.

Maybe you want to get better career prospects, and in that case, you should consider an associate’s degree.

This degree lasts for a longer time, generally about 2 years.

To get enrolled in a training school, you will need to fulfill some requirements:

  • 18 years old, even though some schools will accept you if you are 16 years old.
  • Passing a drug test
  • Passing a tuberculosis test
  • Passing a background check
  • Passing some exams:
    • Math
    • Reading
    • English

To get to take the licensing exam, you will need to train for a total of 75 hours.

You will have to spend 16 of these hours doing practice.

The license you will be getting has to be renewed every year.
