I didn’t begin college to become an RN, BSN until I was 26 and had a newborn. It was difficult, I didn’t sleep very much bc school was very competitive just to get accepted into a nursing program. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to enter the nursing field. Hours are long, patients are angry or sad, dealing with families and sorrow. It’s not only physically taxing but emotionally as well. I’m now looking for a career change. Nursing also has a high burn out rate. Honestly I think the best medical careers would be sonographer or radiology technician. From what I’ve seen those 2 jobs pay well and are chill and not physically or emotionally demanding.

I’m 51 and haven’t worked in 2 years. Spent 20.+ years in the Med field at Reception and even when I applied for other positions I was qualified for all they were interested in was my Reception experience. I need a home computer because I’m not good in a traditional office. I don’t like to be around people and want to communicate through email only. Just need a computer set up.

I got a master in Information system and technology, ended up in a technical customer service job. I’m in that position for the last 10 years, being in this job for 10 years made me to forgot all my skills which I have learned during my degrees. Currently don’t know where to go. Any job I apply get rejected. Companies want me only for my customer service skills. Trying to get out of customer service but it is not so easy. Cannot find even a volunteer position in IT to improve my IT skills. Any job listed here is to hard to find in UK. People keep on telling me only it is not what you know, it is all about who you know in order to progress in your career. If anyone got any tips for me, please let me know. It means a lot to me.

Most of these jobs are not entry level. Also, graphic design is EXTREMELY customer service based as you have to work with a client to design their product. You send them stuff, they make edits, and you apply them until the client is satisfied. It typically will not pay well until you’re very well known, which is not a guarantee.

I’m a Muslim woman who wears a face covering so I’m finding it hard to find a good career where I can wear it and also one that I enjoy. I am very interested in working front line in the hospital but in the UK its very very limited to find such careers. I was suggested to check the roles for non-customer facing but I’m in a pickle

I hate working with people and less I work with them, the better. I am not a team player either. I have been messing around with drawing and art since I was about 15 so I have experience there and becoming a graphic designer sounds like a great option for me. I can be my own boss.

Sucks to be 27 and just figuring this out but I will find something I will enjoy eventually.

27? Please. Try being 57 and being fired or asked to leave job after job for the past 35 years…You at least CHOOSE to leave. You are not a slow learner, you have reached an important milestone in your life that is going to change the whole game. Self knowledge is POWER. Many NEVER learn themselves even by 27.
