This is what a CNC machinist does daily:

- Accurately cut various types of material

- Ensure the quality of the product
- Meet deadlines
- Reading blueprints
Other tasks may be given to a machinist so, boredom is not a word to describe this profession.
CNC Machinist Job Requirements
There are no employers who don’t have requirements from the new people joining their company.
When applying for a position as a machinist, things are no different.
The minimum requirements from a CNC machinist candidate are:
- Finished high school or obtained a GED
- All employers expect this from candidates
- Having a GPA of 2.5 at minimum
- Having a degree or a certification in the field
- This aspect is highly valued and useful
- Having the necessary skills for a machinist
Becoming a CNC Machinist in Delaware
Becoming a CNC machinist in Delaware is not easier or more difficult than in other states.
There are a few steps you should follow
Step 1 – Education
As it was already mentioned, you can’t get hired without a high school diploma or GED.
Your education can’t stop there.
You must continue with attending either a university, community college or even a training center.
By enrolling in one of the institutions mentioned above, you can earn an associate’s degree, diploma, or certificate.

Step 2 – Earn Some Certifications
If you thought that passing exams period to earn credentials was over, you’re wrong.
You have several other certifications you can earn which will make you better prepared for your future job.
NIMS Machinist Level 1 is one of the most important certifications to obtain.
This certification has no expiry date and is recognized at the national level.
This is because the certification is obtained through the National Institute of Metalworking Skills.
Step 3 – Apply for a Job
Now that you passed through the previous steps, it’s time you found either an apprenticeship or an actual job.
The advantage of the apprenticeship is that you get paid while still learning the ropes.
Furthermore, this learning/working curve can turn into a full-time position.
It’s even better to try and find a job right away and start your CNC machinist career.
CNC Machinist Training in Delaware
Delaware currently doesn’t have schools that will train a future CNC machinist.
As a result, I’ll present some schools from other states.
But keep in mind that you’ll have to move to the state the institution is located in.
Bevill State Community College 
This community college is located in Alabama.
Enrolling in the Machine Tool Technology program at this community college presents various options tailored for aspiring CNC machinists:
- Associate in Applied Science Degree
- Long-term Certificate
- Short-term Certificate
The program, catering to a range of machinists, including those specializing in CNC, is available at two campuses located in Hamilton and Jasper.
Delaware County Community College 
This college is located in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, so don’t get your hopes too high.
It offers an associate in applied science degree in Machine Tool Technology which is another term used for CNC technology.
The program has a duration of 64 hours covering a variety of subjects.
