OEWD in partnership with city college of San Francisco and other stakeholders rolled out a pre-employment construction training program at the Evans campus since 2006.

Below is an overview of how the program is able to accommodate everybody, experienced or not.

Inexperienced

You’ll undergo an 18-week (spring/ summer) training that includes but not limited to:

  • Class room sessions that can get you 15 college credits, hurray!
  • Hands-on training in all building trades, which are apparently 26.
  • Free uniforms and union fees
  • Vocational English as a Second Language(VESL)
  • Complementary industry certifications like OSHA 10, forklift operation, CPR and First AID and all that good stuff
  • Job placement( most importantly)

To be eligible you must be:

  • At least 18 year
  • A proofed San Francisco residency
  • A valid driver’s license holder of least 8th grade reading/math skill level
  • Physically fit
