OEWD in partnership with city college of San Francisco and other stakeholders rolled out a pre-employment construction training program at the Evans campus since 2006.
Below is an overview of how the program is able to accommodate everybody, experienced or not.
You’ll undergo an 18-week (spring/ summer) training that includes but not limited to:
- Class room sessions that can get you 15 college credits, hurray!
- Hands-on training in all building trades, which are apparently 26.
- Free uniforms and union fees
- Vocational English as a Second Language(VESL)
- Complementary industry certifications like OSHA 10, forklift operation, CPR and First AID and all that good stuff
- Job placement( most importantly)
To be eligible you must be:
- At least 18 year
- A proofed San Francisco residency
- A valid driver’s license holder of least 8th grade reading/math skill level
- Physically fit
- Ace the drug test
- Able to Complete two weeks of job readiness Training
